David Morgan - Large Format Print
Scaffolding banners are printed in full colour onto a mesh PVC in 5.5 metre sections. This extremely lightweight material allows us to create huge expanses of graphics to decorate building fascias under construction.

This 'building wrap' was produced for the David Morgan refurbishment.

Client Brief
Our client Helical Bar PLC, www.helical.co.uk required a decorative facade to cover the David Morgan department store whilst it was undergoing major redevelopment. This included scaffolding banners and producing graphics for the construction hoarding. A key concern was to show that the shopping arcades (that run through the development) were still open for business and to ensure that trade did not suffer as a result.

Solution
The artwork was supplied to us by our client but we were left with the responsibility for providing photographic images for use on the hoarding graphics. This entailed commissioning photographs of the shopping arcades. Risk Assessments, Method Statements and a Health and Safety report were produced before beginning the project.

Instructions were given to the scaffolders on how to erect the scaffolding so as to facilitate correct fitting of the banners. Mesh PVC was used to minimise the wind loading and installation was carried out by our own team. 1,100 sq metres of banner was used.

The graphics were printed on 1.2mm aluminium sheets (each at 3000 x 1220mm) which were then fitted to a plywood construction hoarding using stainless steel security fixing bolts. 355 sq metres of graphics were created. Aluminium was chosen so as to avoid the buckling which occurs when PVC sheets are used. The graphics were then finished with an anti graffiti laminate for protection against vandalism.

Once the design was finalised the project was completed in five to six weeks.

The order consisted of:
• Site surveys and Health & Safety and Risk Assessments Reports
• Photography for use on graphic panels
• Production of graphics panels and banners
• Installation including on site project management

Total cost: Circa £40,000 + vat
